Big Feelings, Bruised Egos, and Remembering Who the Hell You Are

Today has a little bit of “I want to be seen, but if you perceive me incorrectly, I might lose my shit” energy. We want affection. We want to feel appreciated. We want people to understand what we’re saying without having to provide a PowerPoint presentation about why something hurt our feelings. And somehow, we also want to act completely unbothered. Cute. Very manageable. With the Moon in Leo, the Sun in Libra, and Mercury and retrograde Venus in Scorpio, today gives us plenty to work with astrologically. The Leo Moon squared Mercury and Venus earlier today, while its connections with Saturn and the Sun offer a steadier way forward. My read on this combination: you can want connection and still need a minute to figure out what you’re actually asking for!

The Moon describes our emotional needs, instincts, and how we seek comfort. In Leo, those needs tend to involve warmth, affection, creativity, and feeling like our presence matters. Leo is fixed fire, ruled by the Sun. There’s heart here. Loyalty. Generosity. The desire to give something personal and have someone actually receive it. And yes, sometimes there’s a dramatic entrance. Let her live. Under a Leo Moon, consider where you want acknowledgment. Maybe you’ve put effort into something and would like someone to notice. Maybe you want affection without having to ask three times. Maybe you’re tired of being the person who hypes everyone else up while your own accomplishments get a polite little thumbs-up. Wanting appreciation doesn’t automatically make you needy. But it helps to recognize what you want before pride decides to speak on your behalf. “I wanted you to notice” is a very different conversation from “Whatever, I don’t care.” Especially when you absolutely do care.

Earlier today, the Leo Moon squared Mercury in Scorpio. A square is a 90-degree aspect associated in astrology with friction: the planets involved are trying to do their jobs in ways that can clash. Here, the Moon represents the emotional response, while Mercury represents thinking and communication. Leo wants to express what’s in its heart. Scorpio Mercury wants depth, honesty, and the information underneath the information. Put those together, and I'd watch for the urge to read an entire emotional backstory into one sentence. A short response can become an investigation. A poorly worded comment can land harder than intended. You may know exactly what you feel and still struggle to explain it without sounding angrier than you meant to. Before you respond, ask yourself:

What did they actually say, and what meaning did I add?

That question doesn’t dismiss your feelings. It gives you a better chance of addressing the right thing. Because arguing with the imaginary extended edition of someone’s text is a lot of work, babe. The Moon also squared retrograde Venus in Scorpio earlier today. Venus is associated with affection, pleasure, attraction, beauty, money, and values. With the Moon involved, this is a useful symbolic lens for looking at whether the comfort you’re reaching for actually meets your needs. Maybe you want reassurance but feel uncomfortable asking for it. Maybe you want closeness and also want to protect yourself from disappointment. Maybe buying something pretty sounds significantly easier than sitting with an uncomfortable feeling. Relatable, but the cart does not have a counseling license. This aspect can be a prompt to notice the difference between enjoying something and using it to answer a bigger question about your worth. A compliment feels good. So does being desired. Neither has to become the sole evidence that you matter.

Venus stationed retrograde on October 3 and remains retrograde until November 13, moving from Scorpio back into Libra on October 25. We’re only a couple of days into the cycle. So please do not decide you’ve already figured out the entire lesson by Monday afternoon. In astrology, Venus retrograde is a period for reviewing relationships, pleasure, finances, and personal values. Scorpio adds themes of intimacy, trust, privacy, vulnerability, and control.

The questions I’d work with are:

  • Where am I giving more than I’m comfortable giving?

  • What do I want that I keep pretending I don’t want?

  • What am I afraid would happen if I asked directly?

  • Does this still feel valuable to me, or am I holding on because I’ve invested so much?

And this goes beyond romance. It can apply to your pricing, your friendships, your creative work, or the version of yourself you keep presenting because people are used to her. You’re allowed to reconsider something without immediately burning it to the ground. Observe. Get honest. Give yourself enough time to hear your own answer.

Today also includes the Moon trine Saturn in Aries and sextile the Sun in Libra. In astrological terms, a trine suggests an easier flow between planets; a sextile suggests an opportunity that benefits from participation. My interpretation of the Saturn connection is simple: give your feelings some structure. Pause before sending the message. Finish one manageable task. Say what you need clearly. Decide what you can take responsibility for and what belongs to someone else. Saturn symbolism asks us to follow through, including on the boundaries we set for ourselves. The Moon’s sextile to the Libra Sun offers another useful theme: expressing yourself while leaving room for another person’s perspective. Libra is cardinal air, associated with relationships, fairness, and negotiation. Leo brings the heart; Libra asks how we can share the space. You can be honest and considerate in the same conversation. You can also make art, laugh with someone, put on a cute outfit, or do something enjoyable without turning the whole day into emotional homework. We do have options!

Today’s Vibes

Today’s astrology gives us a useful way to explore appreciation, pride, communication, and vulnerability. Your personal experience will depend on your circumstances and how these transits connect with your birth chart. You don’t have to shame yourself for wanting affection or acknowledgment. Just try to give those wants honest words before they come out sideways. While you wait for somebody else to notice your magic, spend a little time enjoying it yourself. You’re allowed to like who you are before anybody claps.
